Unplanned Moments
Twins
So, the other day, my friend Mindy and I just happened to wear similar outfits to church. It wasn’t planned at all! Of course, I had to document it by taking a picture with my phone…and scrapbooking it as well! This particular situation didn’t really qualify as an “event”, with a lot of pictures to work onto the page. It was more of a moment.
As I started scrapbooking this experience, I began to think about “moments”. You know — those sometimes random, often unexpected, always delightful moments…the ones that make you say ‘wow!’ or ‘haha!’ and then pull out your phone and take a picture to prove to the world that you were there. That the moment actually happened and you were a part of it. A lot of times, these end up being “selfies”.
In fact, cellular technology has made it easier than ever to capture these moments, and to put ourselves right in the middle of the memory!
The thought that I had while scrapping this experience that I’d had with Mindy, was that these moments deserve to be ‘framed’ on a layout just as much as the more epic memories. They are like the embellishments of life. The little things that spice up the spaces between birthdays, and babies, and vacations. They are the details that flesh out the Lives Behind the Layouts that we create.
So I decided to try my best to make my random, ‘twinner’ moment with my good friend shine!
Choosing the Right Paper
I started by digging through my extra paper and pulling out a couple of random sheets that coordinated perfectly with my pictures.
I really wanted to take advantage of the paper that I was using, so I was careful to only trace and cut the portion of the template that would actually be showing on my layout (since I knew I would be tucking the element behind something else). I also pulled from the paper to help create the title for the layout.
Don’t Forget Your Card
After i was finished with my layout, I also took the scraps of paper that I had left, and made a quick card!
I’ll Always Have This Memory
And voila! In just a few minutes, I had preserved a random, laugh-out-loud moment that still has me smiling a week later! When I am looking through my scrapbook years from now, on a grey winter day (and there are a lot of those here!), I know this memory will lighten my heart and make me grateful for the Life Behind this Layout — a life full of good friends!
