Pre-School Layout Idea
Eli’s 1st Day of School
I had these two pictures on my phone from Eli’s first day of Pre-school. We were running late, so there was no time for anything fancy, but that’s life right? These two pictures do capture just how cute and small he was. He has already grown up so much since then!
When I saw this paper by simple stories I fell in love with it – a problem for all of us paper addicts! I knew that I had to have it for pictures of my little guy. As I began the Play to Create process with the Designer Templates I let the designs and patterns in the paper be my inspiration.
You can see this in the picture below. The circles in the paper inspired me to pull out one of the shapes from my Rings Set, but instead of using it as a ring, I traced and cut out the entire circle. I also pulled the stars from the paper into my layout design using the Adventure Set.
And look what else I incorporated into my layout! A stamp! I hardly use stamps, and I didn’t do anything fancy with this particular stamp, but it did add a little something, and was kind of fun!
With this layout, I did something a little bit different during the inking phase — I added ink to the entire edge of the background of my layout. I know that most people won’t notice, but I feel like it really added a sense of depth and richness to this paper, which is particularly light in color. It made a real difference over all.
I feel like this one-page layout ended up being just as cute as my little boy! I gained such a sense of creative fulfillment once it was complete, and can’t wait to share it with my friends and family!
