Pinewood Derby

It’s Racing Time
Scouting has been a big part of the lives of my sons and grandsons, and one of the iconic scouting events each year is the Pinewood Derby. Each scout is given a derby kit, which is basically just a block of wood and some wheels, and they get to create their very own racing car out of it! But the fun really starts when they race their cars against all of the others. There is something about competition that just amps up the fun level! We have a history of winners in our family, and this event for my grandson, Jason, was no exception. The tradition continues!!
I was so thrilled to find this paper line by Carta Bella, Boy Oh Boy, because it worked perfectly for these pictures! It was fun to create a ‘track’ on my border with Cascade Trails, and the Playtime and Tiny Tags sets really highlighted the derby car theme, making this layout easy to design!

My son was in cub scouts and then Boy Scouts. He earned his Eagle rank two years ago. Using the cascade trails to simulate the pinewood derby track is a great idea. I’m going to use it but have them going diagonally across the page to simulate the track.
