Detailing with Fancy Frills
We love the new border, Fancy Frills, and everyone is exploring creative ways to use this versatile set in their scrapbooking. Creative Partner Kristen Lawson has already played to create with these designer templates to discover how adorable they are on a variety of her layouts. Kristen loves how she can use the different pieces in this set to highlight her boys and their masculine pages and how the Frills also look so pretty on her more feminine scrapbooking layouts.
Kristen loves the Fancy Frills set because she gets to play with the pieces to create more masculine pages for her boys. Fancy Frills allow for limitless possibilities when creating with it. For Kristen’s Spirograph layout, she easily combined Fancy Frills 4 and 5 with pieces from the Adventure and Tiny Explore designer template sets. This memory of her family at play gets so much love from all the gears she used in her layout.

Kristen created this two page scrapbook layout highlighting her beautiful family photos using Fancy Frills. She really Played to Create with her borders. If your borders aren’t working, I would suggest flipping them around, turning them over, using the opposite side to create the flow and movement that you want on your scrapbook layouts. All of our designer templates can be turned, rotated, flipped, and adjusted to fit your pages. Along that line of creativity, you can also use a Tiny Border to create a full 12” border like Kristen did with Blissful. What we really want to highlight is the lovely technique she used in creating the lacey effect on the Fancy Frills borders by using a teardrop shaped hole punch.

As Kristen was sharing her hole punching experience with us, she shared some tips and tricks on how to use the teardrop shaped hole punch. On the two page layout she first shared, she had free-handed her hole punching, which was certainly adorable and created the cute lacey effect. She decided on this layout to instead use the stenciling elements on the border to sketch out where she wanted her teardrops with a pencil before she started punching. This made it easier for her to fit all the teardrops right where she wanted them.
