3 Scrapbooking Challenges to Keep You Creating This June
If you’re looking for inspiration, sometimes, all it takes is a challenge! There are 3 challenges this month that will help you complete projects, stretch your creating muscles, and play out-of-the-box! Check out the challenges below, and schedule some time to complete one, or all three!
To play along with this scrapbooking sketch challenge, recreate your own layout using the sketch below. You don’t need the exact designs shown. Simply use this sketch as a springboard for inspiration to create your own version.
And when you post your finished layout, use #jun2022sketchchallenge on your post!
What is a sketch?
Sketches are the framework of a layout, where the elements are laid out, but they don’t have the papers, photos, or embellishments shown that can sometimes be distracting to a vision of your own needs. Sketches give creators like you ideas without getting lost in trying to recreate the exact finished project. Use your own paper, Designer Templates, and photos to make each layout your own, and feel free to change the layout to suit your needs.
These following samples were created by the cofounders, Debbie, Susan, and Shiloh. See how they used the sketch as a springboard for their own, unique layouts.
Debbie made a fun alteration to her sketch. Rather than having her right page oriented up and down, she used the design from the sketch and rotated it so that the border and the photos are in landscape.
All three of these layouts were created using the Collect Moments paper crafting kit. If you want an additional challenge, or if you want to play on your own, you can grab a kit of your own, while supplies last! Kit includes:
- Twelve 12”x12” sheets of double-sided 80lb patterned paper
- 10 double-sided title cards
- 9 Open Air Designer Templates
The winner for the #jun2022sketchchallenge is Melissa Lane and her lovely yellow layout!
To play along with this challenge, create something that includes a mason jar in the design. When you post your completed entry, use #jun2022kiwiclub.

Don’t you wish that you could collect moments and keep them in jars to admire over and over again?...Read More
In this blog post, Susan shares how she designs various scenes in the mason jar. It’s only the beginning of ways you can bottle memories. https://kiwilane.com/scrapbooking/collect-moments/
No matter what you’re bottling, you’ll be able to make each mason jar cute and unique.
If you’re looking for a way to make your mason jar more jarlike, vellum is the perfect material to create a glass-like feel. You can use it as the jar itself so you can see the paper beneath, and the moment you collected will sit on top. If your vellum is transparent enough, you can use a solid patterned paper for the background, and then your scene, and then a layer of vellum on top like you’re looking through frosted glass.
Remember to use #jun2022kiwiclub when you post your completed layout. There wasn’t a winner for this June since no one entered, so remember to use the hashtags when you post your layouts for a chance to win!
To play along with this challenge, include an arrow in your creation. When you post your completed entry, use #jun2022playtocreate.
Susan pulled out her stash of hardware and found these little black arrows for challenge #3. Look through your own stashes! You’ll never know what the challenge will inspire you to use.
The winner for the #jun2022playtocreate is Regina Gannaway and her fun one page layout!
All of these challenges can be found in the Ideas to Inspire Digital Idea Book. The Ideas to Inspire pdf is a FREE monthly digital idea book that is full of samples, challenges, tips, and tricks from the CoFounders as they Play-to-Create with their own paper crafting kits. Each CoFounder’s style is different from the others, but their creations are a valuable springboard for your own playtime.
What will you create? Remember to post your finished creation in the community, and support other creators who also took on these challenges. Share your own layouts, and leave a like and comment on other creators’ layouts. We’re all excited to see how you took on these challenges.
