Creating a Fun & Funky Journaling Block

Hi all, Erin here and I am back up on the blog today with a Tip Time Tuesday! I was sent some fun new goodies from the Izzy line with My Minds Eye. My Minds Eye has always been a favorite company of mine. The quality of their paper and products can’t be beat! And not to mention all the enamel dots that they have! I love them all! I don’t know about you all but I don’t do a whole bunch of journaling on my layouts. I try but I just can’t seem to make it “fit”. I do find it easier though when the journaling block is part of the layout. So for today’s Tip Time Tuesday I decided to create a fun and funky journaling block.

Step #1

To start I traced template #3 from the Wacky collection onto both a piece of patterned paper and a piece of white card stock.

Step #2

For this next step I needed the final size of the white card stock to be smaller than my patterned paper so I moved my template down a little and centered each point inside the previous one before I started tracing it again.

Here is what the white card stock should look like once it is all traced and not cut out yet.

Step #3

Finally it’s time to cut out and ink both the patterned paper and the white card stock. Make sure when cutting out the white card stock that you cut along the inner lines and not the outer. If you cut the outer lines then your two pieces of paper will end up being equal size, which won’t give us the look we are going for.

Time to Journal

I went ahead and added my journaling along the edges of the funky points. I think it adds a little something and makes it fun. I machine stitched along the bottom edge also.

Can’t wait to see how you add journaling blocks to your layouts

When all is said and done here is the final look of the layout that you will get.  Again I loved working with Izzy Line by My Minds Eye.  I have also added a close up of the journaling block so you can see how it pokes out from behind a photo. I can’t wait to see how you all create your own journaling blocks using the templates.
