It’s Gail Owens here with a little tip for using your Kiwi Lane Designer Templates.
I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again (and again, and again) – think outside the box when you’re using your templates! They are a springboard for your creativity – use them to dive in!
That being said, I’d like to share with you a layout I made:
When I was making this layout, I knew I wanted to have two differently-sized larger stars that each had two layers – a patterned paper on top with a coordinating solid paper underneath. The stars in the Adventure Accessory set were perfect for both layers of the largest star, and for the solid layer of the second largest star, but I didn’t have a template that I could use for the top (patterned) layer of the second largest star. Hmmm….
This is where some ingenuity with my Kiwi Lane templates came in and I reached for my Tiny Accents Accessory set, pulling its star shape out and incorporating it into my Play-To-Create session. The tips of this small star are rounded, which I wasn’t loving, so I made some adjustments to my shape. Here’s what I did:
I traced the regular shape on my paper (you’d do this on the BACK of your paper to hide the lines):
Next, I used a ruler to extend the lines of the star past the rounded points:
Finally, I cut out my star, which was just the right size – perfect!
I had so much fun Playing to Create with my Kiwi Lane templates! I hope you feel inspired to grab your templates and see what you can make. Don’t forget to share your creations (and ingenuity!) with us, too! You can leave a comment here on the blog with a link to your project, or you can visit us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. We love it when you share!
